Fundraiser for Young Women

A fundraiser was held at the stake center. The young women served a spaghetti dinner and asked for donations. It was a great meal, meatballs and all. Brother Mike Van Houten kept the evening interesting by serving as auctioneer. The youngmen had donated some photographs they had taken on various activities. There were also many services and baked goods available, which were auctioned off. The folks that were in attendance, though small, were extremely generous.

Jim Francis Rides For Shriners

About a year ago my friend
Willard White asked me to
ride across America with him.
I told him there was no way
that I could because of my
knees and back. Also, I was
way too heavy. He told me
that Heavenly Father wanted
me to do it. I guess I didn’t
believe him, so I got on my
knees and asked Heavenly Father. He told me that He would help me.

Don Rappleye helped me get a three wheeled cart, that is when I went to work. The cart has worked out wonderful. I work out on the cart between 60 to 70 miles a day.

Willard said he was riding for Shriners Hospital because of his two daughters. We would put on a fireside across America. We have been blessed with 4 to 5 firesides a week. We will hand out Books of Mormon and tell people about our Church. I have talked in different wards asking for Books of Mormon. Also, we are going out with the missionaries across America.

We start on May 28th from Coos Bay, Oregon and finish in New York City, New York on August 11th. The Lord has blessed us. I know all things are possible through our Heavenly Father. We know it will be a wonderful and spiritual summer with Heavenly Father’s help.

For those who would like to take the journey with Jim and Willard, all you need to do is type in www.inspirationroad.com . Visit this site and check out the map, itinerary, blogs, etc.. Our prayers go with you Jim.

Temple Topics/ Bro. Don Montgomery

A new year is here. It is a time to make new resolutions to better serve our Heavenly Father. The Family History Center is available to serve you as you help complete your search for ancestors who need the saving ordinances of the temple.
In addition to providing temple ordinances for the ancestors we know about, we can help those in the spirit world in many other ways. We should seek the guidance of the Spirit as we prayerfully consider what we might do. Depending on our circumstances, we can do the following things:
1. Attend the temple as often as possible. After we have gone to the temple for ourselves, we can perform the saving ordinances for others waiting in the spirit world.

2. Do reseach to identify ancestors who are more difficult to find. The Family History Center is a great resource.

3. Contribute family history information to Ancestral File. It allows people to share their information.

The Family History Center is located in the Stake Center. The telephone number is 346-2342. Plan to make this a part of your new year's resolutions.

Old Nauvoo, Ward Christmas Party

The 4th ward held it's annual Christmas party on Wednesday,

December 16. There was a great turnout and everyone had a good time and more than enough to eat.

We were able to get a glimps of life in old Nauvoo. We learned to make ornaments as they may have back then, played outdoor games, tried our eye at a shooting gallery, purchased items at the "Red Brick Store", buy baked goods at the "Souvil Bakery and lots more.

Bishop Burton and other members gathered together to play carols to all present. They were certainly rocking the place. Kudos to the Mesquite 4th Ward band.
More pictures to come.
